I made it to SMX West 09

Hi Everybody!

I made it to SMX West 09 here in Santa Clara, California. I flew across the country all by myself (not the only one on the plane but you know what I mean). The Hyatt Regency is a beautiful hotel but some things caught me off guard. It cost almost $30 to take a cab from the Airport to the hotel (less than 10 minutes)!! And it cost an additional $51.80 for hardwired Internet access the four days that I'm here. The room is already almost $250 per night. I definitely need to learn how to travel for business.

And, yes, I was able to get everything in my carry-on!!

Google's AJAX Experiment Breaks Google's Own Products

Google has been experimenting with an AJAXy interface for its search results. Problem is: this will kill a lot web analytics programs including Google's own Google Analytics. No doubt this will frustrate all webmasters and cause a backlash.

Google tries location-based social networking with Latitude

Google has leveraged the social networking aspects from some of its products and introduced Latitude, a location-based service built on Google Maps. Friends can share their general or specific location with others, and all you need is a Gmail address or Google Account to sign up. Somewhere on a map, Facebook and MySpace are eating their hearts out.
